The Maze Runner (Book 1)By: James Dashner
Genres: Adventure, Dystopian, Fantasy, Mystery and Books -Movies For Ages: 12-16 When Thomas wakes up in a cold, metal box, he can't remember anything but his first name. He is eventually rescued by the Gladers, a group of teenage boys living in a glade surrounded by a dangerous maze. Thomas discovers that once a month, a new boy comes in the box. But the next day, a girl arrives, the first ever in the Glade, and Thomas feels an inexplicable connection to her. As he and the Gladers try to solve the maze, he feels like his memory holds the secret to their escape. But escape won't be possible without first uncovering the secrets buried in his mind, and his connection to the mysterious girl. While violent, this book was full of intrigue and narrow escapes. The characters were all different in their interactions with each other, which greatly affected the plot of the book. In addition, the seemingly-traditional maze (the idea that there is an entrance and an exit) holds very interesting secrets, pulling readers in all the more. Whooo! Shivers up my spine! I would rate this book: A Great Read 4.5 Stars: * * * * .5 |
