The Inheritance Cycle (Book 1): ERAGONBy: Christopher Paolini
Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Magic and Books-Movies For Ages: 12-16 In the Empire of Alagäesia in the small town of Carvahall, Eragon believes that his destiny will consist only of carrying on the family tradition of farming - until one day he finds a dragon egg in the mountains surrounding his home. He and his dragon Saphira are pursued by the Empire's harsh ruler, Galbatorix, and they must choose where to run and who to turn to. But little do they know that their choices and newfound powers can change the fate of all of Alagäesia. This book was a very entertaining read. In most series where the authors create an entire world, there are often flaws, or the author gives up on some parts of it, but Christopher Paolini really brought Alagäesia to life. I also found that there were many parallels between Eragon and Lord of the Rings. Since fantasy is so completely other to our world, I find that most of the time it doesn't make sense, but one of the things I love about Eragon was that the rules of their world are all very clear and not confusing at all. Even if you don't normally read fantasy, I would urge you to read this book. I would rate this book: A Great Read 4.5 Stars * * * * .5 |
