The Da Vinci CodeBy: Dan Brown
Genres: Adventure, Mystery, and Books-Movies For Ages: 13+ (This book makes a lot more sense if you have done a unit on Renaissance Art in school, or covered Da Vinci) Harvard professor Robert Langdon gets an urgent call in the middle of the night in Paris. He groggily gets up and goes to the Louvre, where the curator has been murdered. Alongside his body are strange clues that are baffling the French authorities. But Langdon is being accused of the murder. On the run with cryptologist Sophie Neveu, Langdon is trying to follow the trail of clues that seem to lead to the answer to one of mankind's greatest mysteries through Da Vinci's paintings. They need to solve this puzzle before the authorities catch up to them... or the real murderer. Wow. This book was a masterpiece. It had hidden meanings stacked upon enigmas stacked upon mysteries, and was one of the most intriguing thrillers I have read in a long time. Dan Brown is also very good at writing about the enemy, giving just enough information to tantalize the reader with their devious actions, and yet not giving away who they are. This book makes a lot more sense if you have done a unit on Renaissance art in school, or covered Da Vinci. I would rate this book: A Must Read 5 Stars: * * * * * |
