The Ascendance Trilogy (BOok 1): tHE fALSE pRINCEBy: Jennifer A. Nielsen
Genres: Adventure and Fantasy For Ages: 10 - 15 Sage is an orphan of the country Carthya, living off the backs of donated old food and a filthy orphanage, with no future in life. But one day along with three other boys, he is bought by a man named Master Conner, who needs a teenage boy for his treacherous plan: to impersonate the lost Prince Jaron on the throne, controlled by Conner, rule Carthya. Only one out of the four boys can win this "honour"and the losers will be killed for their knowledge of the plan. But Sage isn't sure he has what it takes to give himself up to Conner's schemes. Will he win and fall into a web of lies for the rest of his life, or will Sage be unable to submit to treason and die? This is definitely a book worth reading. Giving all of the clues and yet completely keeping the audience in the dark takes a certain mastery, one which this author certainly has. Super dynamic characters make the plot really interesting, and the manipulation and planning is really entertaining to read. With a fresh and clever protagonist whose actions and thoughts are completely engaging and thought-provoking, this is a read you do NOT want to miss. Must Read 5 Stars: * * * * * |
