Pi in the SkyBy: Wendy Mass
Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Mystery and Sci-fi For Ages: 8 - 11 Joss may be the seventh son of the supreme overlord of the universe, but that doesn't mean his life is very interesting. While his brothers get all the cool jobs like creating sunrises and monitoring alien life forms, he delivers pies. That's right - pies. But when all of earth is erased except for one girl named Annika, only Joss can fix it. With Annika's help, he journeys to find a way to recreate his favourite planet - and to get Annika home. Though the idea behind this book is incredibly creative, the direction that the author took the book fell short of my expectations. What could have been resolved very simply and easily took a roundabout route, and the problem of the story quickly turned from the world disappearing to the theft of the data dots. While the characters and setting were funny and creative, it left something to be desired in its plot. All in all, it was fun to read, but not very well thought out. This book is worth it for anyone who likes outer space or a good adventure. I would rate this book: A Good Read 3.5 Stars: * * * .5 |
