Marie Antoinette: Serial KillerBy: Katie Alender
Genres: Mystery, Romance, and Sci-fi For Ages: 14+ Colette is going to Paris with her French class, and she is ecstatic. She can't wait to see the city of lights, and from the minute she arrives she feels instantly as though she belongs, a feeling she hasn't felt for a while because she is always trying to please her resident clique leader and best friend, Hannah. But as her trip goes on, she starts to discover disturbing information about her family from the time of the French Revolution, and worse is seeing a particular ghost from that era. And if Colette doesn't figure out this puzzle soon, she could become a ghost herself... This book was great because it blended both present day and the past to perfection. This is one of those books that can mean different things to different people depending on how they perceive the narrator, but to me it meant a lot about how it is our actions that really make the difference in the world around us, and not just our words. While this story is classically teen, the author does a fantastic job of not making cliché and therefore on the boring side. For any teen that likes a twist on the classic teen coming of age story, this book is definitely worth it. I would rate this book: 5 Stars: * * * * * |
