Kiki Strike (Book 1): Inside the Shadow CityBy: Kirsten Miller
Genres: Adventure and Mystery For Ages: 12 - 16 When 12-year-old Ananka Fishbein sees a sinkhole in the middle of Central Park, she can't believe her eyes. But after crawling into it, she finds a hidden trapdoor leading into a network of underground tunnels called the Shadow City. Upon meeting a mysterious girl called Kiki Strike, Ananka is invited to join the Irregulars, a crime-fighting girl-power group dedicated to exploring the Shadow City. But as mysterious events occur, the Irregulars are forced to question Kiki's motives and discover her secrets. With everything seeming to point back to the Shadow City, the Irregulars race against the clock with the fate of all of NYC in there hands. Who is Kiki Strike really? Find out Inside the Shadow City. Kiki Strike has bewitched me. I can't stop thinking about everything she was involved with and marvelling at her past. What was interesting about this book was that the style was told from a very fresh perspective. Even if the topic of the book was completely boring (which it is far from), I would keep reading anyway because it is written in a captivating way. The main character is far more interesting than she gives herself credit for. My only comment is the lack of trust the Irregulars place in their parents. Adults can be very useful allies if you are in a tight spot. I would rate this book: A Must Read 5 Stars: * * * * * |
