HatchetBy: Gary Paulsen
Genres: Adventure and Classics For Ages: 12-16 Plagued by the recent divorce of his parents, thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson is being flown over the Canadian wilderness to visit his father in the oil fields. Suddenly, the pilot of the plane has a heart attack, leaving Brian alone to fly the plane. After crash landing in a forest, Brian must learn to survive with just the hatchet in his belt, and completely change himself in order to stay alive. This is an amazing story. Brian uses some very smart methods for survival, and some of the things that happen to him are incredible to read about. In the beginning, I think he's a bit of a sissy, but he really evolves over the course of the book and changes how he looks at the world. I would rate this book: A Must Read 4.5 Stars * * * * .5 |
