Ghosthunters (Book 1): The Incredibly Revolting GhostBy: Cornelia Funke
Genres: Adventure, Dystopian, and Fantasy For Ages: 8-11 Tom is generally very unlucky, but even he can't believe the misfortune of finding a ghost in his cellar. Worst still, this ghost (named Hugo) has been forced out of his regular haunting grounds by an IRG, an Incredibly Revolting Ghost, and the only way to get Hugo out of Tom's cellar is to go and get rid of the IRG. Along with a ghosthunter named Hetty Hyssop, Tom and Hugo put their ghostly skills to the test. Will Tom survive the IRG encounter, or will his luck fail him yet again? This is an amazing children's book. It has a very intricate and yet completely understandable plot. While the topic deals with ghosts, Ms. Funke has masterfully written it so it is not too scary for her younger readers. With quirky characters and creative enemies, this is a certain crowd pleaser. Impossibly, the series gets even better as it progresses. I would definitely recommend the latest thrill by Cornelia Funke. I would rate this book: A Must Read 5 Stars: * * * * * |
