Alex Rider (Book 1): sTORMBREAKERBy: Anthony Horowitz
Genres: Adventure, Mystery, and Books - Movies For Ages: 9-15 Alex Rider's once normal life is shattered when his uncle Ian Rider, a banker, dies. According to the police, the cause of death is a car crash, but Alex isn't so sure. When he is summoned to his uncle's bank, he learns the truth: Ian Rider was not in fact a banker - he was a spy. Now his bosses want Alex to work for them too, and he reluctantly agrees. He is quickly trained and shipped off the country fortress of Herod Sayle, a multi-billionaire who has decided to give a Stormbreaker, his newly designed super-computer, to every school in England. Sayle seems too good to be true, but Alex is running out of time, and disastrous consequences could occur if he does not figure out Sayle's plans before the launch of the computers in just a few days time. Racing against the clock, he uses his head and his new gadgets to try and get to the bottom of this mystery. Stormbreaker was a very entertaining read. It kept you hooked from beginning to end, with surprises at every turn. Action-packed with a superb plot and descriptive settings, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. I very much liked how the backstory of every weapon and enemy was given, because you are given very interesting points of view to ponder. I would rate this book: A Great Read 4.5 Stars: * * * *.5 |
