Agent 21 (Book 1)By: Chris Ryan
Genres: Adventure and Dystopian For Ages: 11-16 Since the death of Zak Darke's parents at a conference in Africa, he has lived with his uncaring aunt and uncle in England and leads a lonely life. One day, a man approaches him in a park and offers him a way out of his oppressed life, on one condition - he can never return to it. Zak is quickly swept away to their reclusive headquarters, where he is trained to be a spy. On his first mission, he must take down a fearsome Mexican drug lord. But with extensive security, not to mention a number of body doubles, his mission seems impossible. With the risk of detection at every turn, can Zak complete this dangerous mission for the many lives at stake? The difference between Agent 21 and other spy books is that Zak Darke is completely alone. He has no gadgets to help him, and the agency that he works for won't pull him out until the last possible moment. This adds an interesting element of danger to the plot, which is heightened by the drug lord's unpredictable nature. With perilous friendships and twists at every turn, this book is sure to offer thrills for whoever reads it. I would rate this book: A Great Read 4 Stars: * * * * |
